Story

"I had twelve outfits from my wedding week alone," Priya tells us. "Beautiful pieces — a Sabyasachi-inspired lehenga, anarkalis from Asiana, suits my mum had custom-made. They were all sitting in garment bags."

The idea to sell came when a friend asked to borrow one of her pieces for a family function. "I realised these outfits deserved to be worn, not stored."

Getting Started

Priya listed her first piece on Nivaii in September 2025 — a red bridal lehenga. "I was nervous about pricing it. It cost over £3,000 new. I listed it for £950 and it sold within two days."

That first sale gave her the confidence to list more. Within a month, she had twelve listings live and a growing base of followers on the app.

What Makes a Great Listing

"Photos are everything," Priya says. "I hang the outfits up, use natural light, and photograph every detail — the embroidery, the stitching, any wear. Buyers want to see exactly what they're getting."

She also recommends being upfront about any imperfections. "I had a suit with a tiny mark on the dupatta. I mentioned it in the description and included a close-up photo. It still sold quickly because the buyer appreciated the honesty."

Advice for New Sellers

"Just start. List one thing. See how it feels. The Nivaii community is lovely — buyers are respectful and the team is always there if you need help."

Priya has now sold over 30 pieces on Nivaii and uses the earnings to fund new additions to her wardrobe. "It's a beautiful cycle," she says. "Nothing goes to waste."
